Support RSRT

Anyone who has witnessed the suffering Rett Syndrome inflicts on children and their families understands the passion and urgency of our mission. Neither government nor industry can be relied upon to finance the work that lies ahead.  Without a privately financed effort, treatments and a cure for Rett will remain many decades away.

The work is ours. It is up to us to see the promise of the reversal fulfilled, in time to change the course of our children’s lives. We have the most to win, and the most to lose.

Our supporters, rapidly growing in number, are discerning families from around the globe who draw strength from the knowledge that their contributions will have direct impact on their child’s future.  We invite you to join with us.

Support an Existing Event
Visit our events page to see if anything is taking place in your area. Even if you do not live in any of these cities there are still ways for you to be involved. Do you have any contacts in these cities that could participate? Do you have connections with corporations or small businesses that could sponsor one of the events?  Can you provide auction items?

Start Your Own Event
There is a multitude of ways to raise research funds – from a letter-writing campaign to running a marathon and everything in between. FirstGiving allows you to raise funds for RSRT online. Visit their site for ideas, tools and support.  If you are thinking of a large event such as our NYC, LA, Baltimore, Phoenix or London galas, please contact us directly to discuss.

Online Registry
Make a birthday, anniversary, wedding or any special occasion even more meaningful. Use Firstgiving as your online registry or contact us to order donation envelopes that you can distribute.

Send a Solicitation Letter
Parenting a child with Rett Syndrome is a challenge. Understandably, many families do not have the time or energy to plan an event. Sending a solicitation letter to relatives/friends/colleagues/neighbors is an effective way to raise research funds without the effort involved with planning an event. Consider asking grandparents, aunts/uncles, godparents and close friends to also write a letter to their network. Please contact us if you would like to see sample letters.

Support RSRT While Shopping Online
This is easy to do, and you don’t spend any more money than you would for normal shopping.  Go to www.goodshop.com.  Click on “Get Started.”  Where it says “Tell us who you want to support” write in Rett Syndrome Research Trust.  Then just do all your online shopping from this site.  It’s connected to thousands of major retail stores that sell clothing, books, electronics, gifts, etc.  A percentage of what you spend for each purchase goes to RSRT.  Depending on the store, the percentage can be from about 3% to 10%, and sometimes higher.  You are spending the same amount you normally would; the store is contributing to RSRT.  Also sign up for www.goodsearch.com and www.gooddining.com.

RETT Documentary Screening
In late 2010 Jason Rem Entertainment released RETT.  Spread awareness and raise research dollars in the process by organizing a screening of the movie. Screenings can take place in movie theaters, libraries, town halls, schools or many other locations.
