Donna Bowers completed her professional education at Northeastern University, earning a BS in Physical Therapy with Honors in May 1984. She received her Master of Public Health degree from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2002. She has extensive clinical expertise in pediatrics for 27 years and has practiced in a variety of settings which include outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, special care nursery, Early Intervention Programs (birth to three) and School Systems. Donna is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy at Sacred Heart University. She continues to practice at the clinic located on the college campus and consults to area schools. She has considerable experience in working with children and adolescents with significant motor dysfunction including Rett Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy. Donna’s other interest is in fitness for children with asthma and children with disabilities. She coordinates the fitness program for the RISE Transition Program which serves young adults ages 19 to 21 with intellectual disabilities.

The breadth and depth of Donna’s clinical experience has been recognized by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties with certification as a Pediatric Specialist in 1995 and recertification in 2006. She has published several book chapters, and has presented many programs at both state and national conferences. In October 2011 she presented a lecture on Scoliosis in Children and Adolescents at the Connecticut Physical Therapy Association’s annual conference.
